*NEW CORONA REGULATIONS IN BERGEN*![]()
Hi everyone! Due to the temporary restrictions in place from 7th-14th February, which prohibit all organised sports for adults, there will be no member sailings permitted from now until the 14th February. ![]()
We hope that these restrictions will not last too long, and we’ll be able to open up sailing well before the Spring Beginner’s Course.![]()
⛵️ 🦠 ❤️
Say hello to Schmelnick! ![]()
Schmelnick is one of the two Albin Expresses we have in the BSI Seiling Club (the other is called Juli). The Expresses are 26 feet (7.8 metres for all the metric people here!) and are made by Albin Marine, a Swedish boatmaker.![]()
Schmelnick is an old dog (and maybe not the most cosmetically beautiful – Juli wins there) but has been around for a while, is faithful and reliable, and the favourite boat of many members in the club!![]()
In 2020 we had a lot of fun sailing with spinnakers on Schmelnick, a great thing to do in the light summer winds. Schmelnick has a reefing mainsail, so is manageable in all but the strongest of winds. She is a great boat for learning to sail – responsive and fast!![]()
Has anyone got a good Schmelnick memory to share in the comments?
Ahoy sailors! Godt nytt år til alle sammen! ![]()
We are pleased to say that, after the new announcement on the continuing measures for infection control in Bergen, we are able to reopen club sailing, following our most recent rules (meaning there is a maximum crew of 3). It is still pretty cold right now, but when it begins to warm up there will be the possibility to sign up for member sailings when they appear on the calendar (at bsiseiling.no/en/seilplan/). Remember, to sign up for a member sailing, you contact the skipper directly using the contact information listed on the website.![]()
For those of you who are continuing members, you can expect an announcement and an email soon about renewing your membership for 2021. Until this comes, your membership is valid if you paid for it between Autumn 2019 and Autumn 2020.![]()
All members will also soon be invited to our annual meeting for Spring 2021. There are going to be some spaces on the board in 2021, so anybody interested in helping to manage the club and get more involved should be especially sure to attend 🙂![]()
For those who are hoping to join BSI Seiling in Spring 2021, please keep checking back for an announcement about the dates of our new Beginner Course, which will be in March or April. We look forward to welcoming some new members!![]()
In the next couple of weeks we will show you more about the club, and introduce you (virtually) to our three boats, the club board members, the harbour, etcetera. For now, say hello to beautiful Bella!
*MEMBER SAILINGS SUSPENDED DUE TO CORONA RESTRICTIONS*![]()
Due to the new coronavirus situation in Bergen, we are unfortunately not permitted to carry out member sailings until the restrictions change.![]()
This comes at a time when the sailing season is finishing anyway, but it’s important to clarify.![]()
Watch the sailing calendar/Facebook to see when member sailing begins again in the New Year (corona-restrictions dependent, obviously). Stay safe!
Dear Sailors,![]()
Tusen takk for helping everyone in the club to stay safe while sailing this semester! It’s now November and is getting colder, darker, and close to the time of year when sailing pauses until the New Year. Please keep checking the sailing calendar, however, as skippers will post occasional sailings if there is some good weather in November.
The sailing calendar for October is now online! Contact the skipper to sign up for a trip. Please remember you can sign up in advance for 1 sailing at a time, to make sure the calendar does not become overwhelmed and everyone gets a chance to sail. ![]()
See the rule below:![]()
People can only book for 1 sailing at a time.
This means that if I have a sailing on Thursday, I cannot book another sailing before I have done my sailing. So after Thursday I can book a new sailing. If 24 hours before a sailing there is still a spot free, any member can book those free spots, whether they already have another sailing booked or not.
